Howdy Folks,
We hope that all of you are well. We hear that there are some people out there that still keep up with this blog, so if you are reading this, we want to say Thanks.
Now with the news. Maddox had a check-up with his pediatrician on Monday and with his development team on Tuesday.
He weighed in at 15 lbs. and 5 oz., and he is now 26.5 inches long. He is no longer in the bottom echelon of the growth charts.

Maddie loves to grab things and stick them on his mouth. They fill that his motor skills are excellent and that he is right on schedule in that department. He is actually standing up now too, (with mommy and/or daddy holding his hands), but he is still doing all of the work. We just hold his hands to steady him.
He hates tummy time, but he is getting better at it. He is rolling over now too. As far as sitting goes, he needs a Little steadying, but he is coming around.
No visible teeth yet. Just lots and lots of slobber and chewing.

The bad news that we got was that he will have problems with his eyes. We do not know to what extint the problems are at this time. We will know more as he gets older and can tell us what he can and cannot see. His optical discs behind the eyes are smaller than normal, and we have heard something mentioned about the optical nerves being damaged. It is not something that can be corrected by surgery or eyeglasses. We are also going to get him some services that help with visually impaired children, so we can get an early jump on it. The sooner we realize what is going on, the sooner we can game-plan for it.
In case you were wondering, Amy and I are OK with this. Since it is not life-threatening, we can live with it. He has overcome heart surgery and lung infections, so I don't foresee him not being able to overcome this as well. He might not be an all-star 3rd basemen when he grows up, but neither am I, so there is no expectations there.

So if you are keeping score at home, Mad Dawg is almost a full 10 lbs. heavier than he was when he was born. He IS 10 lbs. heavier than he was when he weighed his lowest in the hospital. He is 8 inches longer than he was when he was born. He IS 8.5 inches longer than he was after his head became less pointed after going through the birth canal a few days after he was born.
Thanks for sticking with us after all of this time. We will have some pictures up in the next day or two.
Your friends,
Amy, Maddox, and Luke
