Cardiology Report

GETTING READY FOR MY EKG

GO DURHAM BULLS!!!!

Hey Everybody,

Sorry that we are not posting blogs at the same frequency and fervor we were while we were in the hospital, but things are a little crazy here in the Dean camp. We will at least try to post one daily. Thanks for your understanding.

Last night was a little crazy again. This time, it was for some different reasons.

When we left Duke, they only gave us one extra NG tube and supplies, figuring that that would be enough until our supplies came in via UPS. Our little man decided that he just wanted to pull put his tubes every chance he had. After reinserting the same tube a couple of times, and having to improvise with packaging tape, Amy and decided that he would have to go without tube feeding until the next day.

He was fed by the bottle every 3 hours like usual, with us hoping that we would get enough to eat this way. Since he was having to get all of his food by the bottle now, he actually started eating more than he did when he was on the tube. He went from maybe eating 20 mL to around 45 mL. When his supplies arrived this morning, the tubes were not in there, as well as the needed tape to keep it in place. The tubes and tape would not arrive until Friday. Since he had an appointment with the Cardiologist today at 3, we decided to continue bottle feeding him and see what the Doctor says.

So...we met with the Cardiologist today. His weight is now 6 lbs. 5 oz., and he is 21 inches long. The means our boy is growing good. They checked his blood oxygen levels and it was at 99%, so that is excellent. They then removed his remaining stitches, which he was not real happy about. After the Doctor looked him over, she was very impressed with the way he looked and acted. She gave him an A+ check-up. She even thought that since he was eating so good with the bottle, that we could continue feeding that way until we meet with the feeding therapists on Friday. She even told us to hold off on the medicine while we are bottle feeding. Amy an I were thoroughly pleased with outcome of this check-up, and could not have asked for anything better.

We do meet with the feeding therapists in the morning. We do hope that they agree with the Doctor and that we do not have to tube feed anymore, but we would understand and not be too upset if the feel that he needs the supplemental nutrition.

We will let all of you know how that appointment goes sometime in the afternoon.

Please continue to pray for him to grow and to be able to feed primarily from the bottle.

Thanks a Bunch,

The Dean Family

To Everyone,

Just want you to know that I had the priviledge of meeting Maddox yesterday!!! Luke and Amy brought the Miracle Man by to see everyone at work. He is so beautiful, very alert, good color, and is a miracle of God. He looks great in the pics, but even better in person. Amy and Luke look great too. All of you have a lot to look forward to when you meet Mighty Maddox in person. Continue to pray for him to gain his weight.

God Bless Everyone,

Karen
