July 2, 2007

Maddox arrived on June 25, 2007at 12:09pm. The little man weighed in at 5 lbs 12 oz, measuring 181/2 inches.
Since then we have had some ups and downs. Within hours we learned Maddox has a heart condition called Total Anomalous Pulmonary Venous Return. Initially he required IV's and oxygen but graduated from that on June 29th. On June 27th we began feeding him every 3 hours. Maddox was eating well, showing no signs of difficulty. On Sunday July 1st he had a little setback, eating very little with low oxygen levels. The doctor then added a feeding tube. We began only feeding Maddox by bottle when he was awake and alert. We still feed him every three hours but sometimes it is simply holding him while the food goes through the tube.
Maddox had a great day on Monday, feeding from his bottle at 6:00 and 9:00pm! We waited on him to let us know when he was ready to stay awake for the eating and being held.
