Wednesday - July 18th Sweet, Sweet Baby!

Good Morning everybody,

Amy and I just visited with our buddy, and we are pleased to announce that he is doing wonderful. He is responding very well to all that the nurses and Doctor's are doing for him.

They have removed the last of the tubes going into his chest. They have also taken him off of his pacer, so that means he his heart is pumping on its on. He is getting weened off of certain drugs that I cannot pronounce, that are used for different reasons that I do not know. However, the nurse assured us that it is all good. The breathing tube should come out sometime today as well. He is practically breathing on his own right now anyway. His heart rate is around 112 which is great! Prior to surgery it was between 170 and 190.

There is still no definite time set for when he will get out of the PICU, but at this rate, it should be no later than Friday. There is no scientific facts backing this up, it is just what I think.

Maddox looks good, but he is still a little puffy in the middle and face. That should go down as they give him some diuretics today.

We have the option of hanging out with him more than we do but choose not to because the child sharing the room with Maddox is in pretty bad shape. He is probably 15 y/o and is garnishing alot of attention. We do not know what is wrong with him, but there are always alot of people around and alot of machines running. Our nurse even told us that there might be times that we will not be able to come back and visit Maddie b/c of what will be going on with him. So when you say a prayer for Maddie, drop a line in there for him. While your at it, all of the kids in the PICU, they are all there for a reason like our son.

Thanks for all the thoughts, prayers, concerns, and visitors.

We will add more information later today.

Your Friends,

Luke, Amy, and Super Maddox
