July 9th - Duke Bound

Hello Everyone,
Most of you already know that Maddox is currently at Duke hospital now.

We woke up this morning and found Dr. McGregor doing an echo-cardiogram and that they had to raise his oxygen levels to 75%. After thouroghly checking Maddox out, he concluded that his body was telling that it was time to get on down to Duke and get the surgery ball rolling.

We watched him get prepped and rolled out to the ambulance, which was more traumatic than Amy and I thought it would be. Luckily, Amy and I went home on Sunday and wash all of our clothes, so we did not have that to worry about. Therefore, we packed up the car and headed down to Durham.

We got into town around 4 o'clock and got into see our little man. They were running another echo-cardiogram, and to our surprise, there was a group of DOCTORS standing around observing. Not nurses, but Doctors. It was very reassuring to meet 7 Doctors that were very friendly and more than willing to explain things to us.

Amy and I left there tonight content that our boy was in good hands.

They did tell us that after the most recent echo, his heart veins might be better off than they originally thought in Asheville. However, they did tell us that they will most likely run another echo in the morning, and some other tests like CAT scans, and catheterizations within the next few days.

That is all we know at this time. They did tell us that he is very stable and that he is not in any danger. There is nothing scheduled other than more tests at this time.

Amy and I are currently staying with our friends Keith and Debra in Durham. They are very kind to open their home to us.

Thanks again for all your thoughts, prayers, and concerns. We will have our computer with us at the hospital, so we should be able to update the blog faster than we did today.

If some of you call Amy or I, and we do not answer; please leave us a message if you desire and we will try to call you back as soon as possible.

Your Friends,
Amy, Luke, and Baby Maddox
