July 13th - 6:30

Nothing much to write, but some of it is newsworthy.

Maddie has had a x-ray today to see the amount of fluid that they suspected that he had around his lungs. They did see more than they would have liked, so they increased the diuretic medication. Instead of adding it in with his food, it will go into his IV. The Doctor's exact words were "he is going to pee like a race horse for the next day or so."

They also switched us to another room in the same area. The room is smaller, but it gives us a nurse to watch Maddie closer. Amy also likes it b/c it has better light too.

The best news we have had all day, and the most unexpected, is that there is still a chance that Maddie might get to come home prior to the surgery. Amy talked with one of our Doctor's and he told us that if they can get the right amount of medications to get his levels up, then they would want him to go home and gain some weight.

It will take a few days to see if the medications can do what they want, but it is still good news. If they cant, then they will go ahead and do the operation.

Since they have increased his meds, I have seen his blood oxygen levels go from low 70's and high 60's to high 70's and low 80's. The Doctor's ultimately would like to see his levels stay in the 80's.

One thing that I have found out is that Maddie likes to be bundled up like a burrito when he sleeps, but he does even better when you keep his hands out of the burrito bundle, (see picture).

Please continue to pray for Maddie, especially for his levels to rise and so we might be able to get him home and fatten him up.

Hello Amy, Luke and Maddie,
What great steps your little man is taking. It is sure a blessing to be in your own room with him and him taking a bottle wow! what a big little man. That is a huge step. We love all the pictures and thank you so much for keeping us all informed. All our love and prayers. Lots of them.
