Hey Y’All,
The wellness train is picking up speed. In other words, Maddox is doing GREAT!!!
When we got here this morning, the occupational therapist was feeding him with the bottle. He was not too hungry considering he is still being continuously fed through a tube. However, he did eat some. They are going to start decreasing the tube feedings and increasing the bottle feeds. They have also increased the calories from 20 to 22. That should put some meat on his bones before too long.
He is no longer on any IV’s. That means that all of his meds are given orally or through his feeding tube. They removed the big IV that was below his collar bone. The IV in his head is still there, but it is just precautionary. He is a very hard little boy to stick with an IV.
They have taken him off of one of his anti-cranky meds, (methadone), and will take him off of the other one, (dopamine), tomorrow.
We have also learned that we will most likely get out of the PICU sometime tomorrow. They want to observe him a little while longer to see how he reacts to getting off the
anti-cranky meds.
Maddie continues to amaze us considering how much he has been through in such a short time. The dude sure is tough.
Please continue to pray that he continues to do well and that he transitions well out of the PICU.
Your Friends,
Amy, Luke, and Maddox
